Trimble Forestry’s EUDR Solution
The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a legislative framework aimed at minimizing the EU’s contribution to global deforestation and forest degradation. It mandates that operators and traders ensure their products, including wood, palm oil, soy, and other specified commodities, are “deforestation-free.” To comply, entities must conduct due diligence, including risk assessment and mitigation, maintain accurate records, and provide geolocation information for the products they place on the EU market or export. The regulation emphasizes transparency and traceability within supply chains to promote sustainable and responsible sourcing of commodities, with penalties for non-compliance. Currently, the implementation date is December 30, 2024.
In response to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Trimble Forestry is committed to providing comprehensive solutions that enable our customers to achieve compliance efficiently. Trimble’s EUDR solution comprises three main components designed to ensure compliance with the European Union’s deforestation regulations.
- The Sources Apps (web and mobile) enable precise geolocation data collection and management of source information, which is crucial for tracking the origin of forest products.
- Transactions facilitate the movement and tracking of material within a facility, ensuring accurate volume reporting to the EU.
- The Shipping App streamlines the creation, validation and submission of due diligence statements, enabling companies to meet compliance before products enter the EU market.
Data Validation is integrated within these apps and platforms to ensure that data related to loads meet EUDR standards before being received at your facility.
Together, these components form a comprehensive system that facilitates compliance with critical aspects of EUDR: source verification, data integrity, and regulatory reporting. Where applicable, these components are integrated with existing solutions, including LIMS and WeighWiz, to facilitate easier compliance.
Stay tuned for more Trimble Forestry EUDR updates in the near future, including the release of a FREE EUDR SOURCE WEB APP that enables any user to submit the origin details (SOURCE) of a forest tract.
